swing robert douglas jrRobert Douglas Swing Jr., 66, of Radford, passed away January 6, 2013. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Radford, a United States Navy Veteran and a respiratory therapist. He proudly served respiratory patients in Virginia Beach and the New River Valley for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. Swing Sr. and Frances Ward Swing Bozeman; and stepson, Stephen Bollinger. Survivors include his wife, Jane C. Swing; daughter, Elizabeth Jane Swing and future husband, Johnny Soucek, of Radford; daughter, Lisa Michelle Porcelli and husband, David, of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; son, Samuel Douglas Swing, of Christiansburg; son, Robert Thomas Swing, of Radford; brother, William Rodney Bozeman and wife, Jane, of Lexington, N.C.; granddaughter, Siena Porcelli; mother-in-law, Ruth Hemphill Capps, of Julian, N.C.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; colleagues and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, at The River Company, 6633 Viscoe Road, Radford. A memorial service will be held from 3 to 3:30 p.m. followed by an afternoon of celebration. All those who wish to come are invited to bring and share pictures, stories, and memories of Doug. Military honors will be bestowed 1 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 5550 Bagging Plant Road, Dublin. We want to express our deepest appreciation for the many acts of kindness and remembrance shared with us. Your care, comfort, visits, gifts, love, prayers, and words of encouragement have sustained us. God’s angels have truly been busy since January.
