Sweeney, Max Earl

Max Earl Sweeney, 81, of Floyd, passed away Thursday July 3, 2014. Max was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War.

He is survived by his loving wife; Shirley Sweeney, sons; David, Randy and Darrell Sweeney, grandchildren; Mikayla Sweeney, Rhiannon Leebrick, Sarah Newton, Aaron Sweeney and Liam Sweeney, great grandchildren; Maebel Johnson and Wyatt Newton, sisters; Daphine Sowers and Cindy Eanes, brothers; Bruce, Barry and Doug Sweeney. Max had countless friends and loved ones in the local music community.

The family would like to thank the doctors and all the staff at Springtree Health and Rehab Center for their excellent care.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 6, 2014 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Doug Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
