James Edward “Buddy” Sutton, 88, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his home in Fairlawn. He was a member of Morgan’s Chapel UMC and retired after 42 years from the Radford Army Ammunitions Plant where he worked in quality control.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie Sutton; his wife of 64 years, Goldie Mae Dalton Sutton; his son, James Edward Sutton, Jr.; and 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Cindy and Bob Peek of Radford, Mike Sutton and Kevin Sweeney of Astoria, N.Y., and John “Joey” and Anita Sutton of Pilot; grandchildren and their spouses, Courtney and Caleb Hurd, Justin and Ashley Peek, and Chelsey and John Otey; six great-granddaughters, Ellie and Kate Hurd, Izzy and Lilly Peek, and Caiden and Carson Otey; sister, Pauline DeHart of Blacksburg; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ginny Tompkins officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Morgan’s Chapel UM Church, P O Box 118, New River, VA 24129.
