Tellie Garst (Ted) Sutphin, 93, of Dawsonville, Ga., and formerly of Floyd, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007.

Mr. Sutphin was born in Floyd County, and ran Ted’s Garage in Floyd for around 30 years. He was a founding member of Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. He moved to Homestead, Fla. where he worked in real estate. Upon his retirement, he moved to Dawsonville, Ga.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Cecile DeHart Sutphin, Dawsonville, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Bobbie Sutphin, Dawsonville, Ga.; three grandchildren and spouses, Kathy and Dr. Jim Crews, Snellville, Ga., Robin and Benny McDonald, Laurenceville, Ga., Dawn and Mike Kenney, Athens, Ga.; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Goldie Montgomery, Roanoke.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Crews officiating. Interment will follow at Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. on Friday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
