Sutphin, Hubert Randolph

Hubert Randolph Sutphin, age 76 of Draper, went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his family on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at Carrington Place in Wytheville. He was born on August 8, 1937 in Pulaski, and is the son of Magdalene Martin Sutphin and the late John Sutphin. He and his wife attended International Pentecostal Church in Pulaski.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by; a son, Gary Randolph Sutphin; a brother, Charles Robert Sutphin; two sisters, Nancy Hollingsworth Edwards, and Mary Jane Kemp; and a grandchild, Tanya Stevens. He is survived by his wife, Violet Akers Sutphin of Draper; his mother, Mary Magdalene Martin Sutphin of Pulaski; daughter, Linda Nuckols of Pulaski, and step-daughter, Rebecca Akers Johnson of Raleigh, NC; two step-sons, Donald Scott Akers of San Francisco, CA, and John Robert Akers of Draper; three brothers, Johnny Sutphin of Hillsville, Roger Lee Sutphin of Pulaski, and Danny Wayne Sutphin of Rural Retreat. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Amber Sutphin and Jason Sutphin, along with a great-grandchild, Rayna Sutphin, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Mary Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
