Sutphin, Doris Akers
Doris Akers Sutphin, 88 of Christiansburg, passed away on June 12, 2022. She retired from VPI. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Leroy and Alfreda Bower Akers; and brothers, Jimmy Michael Akers and Richard Lee Akers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Dan Sutphin; daughter, Tracy Shepherd and husband, Dean; grandchildren, Zach Shepherd and wife, Amber, and Dylan Shepherd; sister, Jean Sires; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 4-5 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service to follow at 5 p.m. in the Chapel.

Doris, I was so sorry to hear this. We go back a long way. We played together as kids and then went to school together and then eventually attended the same church.
