Charles Robert Sutphin, 72, of Pulaski went to be with his heavenly Father Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was born in Pulaski on March 19, 1936 and was the son of the late John R. Sutphin. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hollingsworth. Mr. Sutphin was retired from RAAP, where he was employed for 33 years.

Surviving are his mother Mary Magdalene Sutphin of Pulaski; ex-wife and very best friend Nettie Mae Sutphin of Pulaski; sons Charles Wayne Sutphin and fiancé Terri Delellis of Barren Springs, and David Phillip Sutphin and Pam Troxel of Marion; daughters Karen Viar Blades and Mike Blades of Ohio, and Debra Sutphin Graham of Pulaski; brothers Herbert Sutphin and wife Violet of Pulaski, Johnny Sutphin of Hillsville, Roger Sutphin of Pulaski, and Danny Wayne Sutphin of Smyth County; sisters Mary Jane Kemp of Pulaski and Glenna Jarrells of Pulaski; grandchildren Leslie Danelle Boyd an husband Paul of Kentucky, Mackenzie Dallas Blades of Ohio, Mekaila Austyn Blades of Ohio, Charles Wayne Sutphin Jr. and wife Traci of Galax, Eric Raymond Viar of Ohio, Taylor Dalton Graham of Pulaski, Tyler Simone of Radford, and Joseph Delellis of Barren Springs; great-grandchildren Matthew Wayne Sutphin of Galax, Donnielle Jade Boyd of Kentucky and Trinity Taylor Boyd of Kentucky; special friend Richard Frazier of Ohio; his little buddy and best friend, his dog Hewey; and special friend and caregiver Sandy Kimmy of Giles County.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Tuesday evening from the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
