Albert Vernon Sutphin, age 61, of Max Meadows, Va., passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006.

He was born December 20, 1944 in Pulaski County, son of the late Taswell Elliott and Edith Sirt Sutphin. He attended Galena Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Emory L. Sutphin. He is survived by his wife, Sonia Zirkle Sutphin; one son, Alan Brent Sutphin of Pulaski; two daughters and one son-in-law, Crystal and Rodney Evans of Scottsville, Va., Misty Dawn Sutphin of the home; two grandchildren, Brittney Sutphin, Juliana Evans; three brothers, Everett B. Sutphin, Maynard E. Sutphin both of Pulaski, Phillip T. Sutphin of Lynchburg; two sisters, Mildred A. Blankenship of Wytheville, Betty Marie Wagner of Kingsport, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Derik Cowan officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 p.m. until service time or at the residence at any time. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
