Sutphin, Agnes Viola Nichols

Agnes Viola Nichols Sutphin, 86, of Floyd, went to meet the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Jesse J. Sutphin; son, Robert Dale Sutphin; and grandson, Marcus James Sutphin.

Agnes was known for her bright shining smile. She always observed the positive qualities in everyone she met which meant she never met a stranger. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. For most of her life she was a faithful member of Paynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memories is her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Maggie Sutphin, and Jessie and Diana Sutphin, all of Floyd; daughter and son-inlaw, Janet and Jerry Hunter, of Salem; sister and brother-inlaw, Verla and Ralph Lawson, of Lawsonville, N.C.; grandchildren, Debbie Sutphin (wife of the late Mark Sutphin), Angela Hunter, John Sutphin, Hannah Sutphin, and Mary Beth Sutphin; greatgrandchildren, Corey Sutphin, Cameron Sutphin, and Jayde Dudley; five step grandchildren; 12 stepgreatgrandchildren; and two step greatgreatgrandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church (Head of the River) with Elder Larry Hollandsworth, Elder Alan Terry and Elder Carl Terry officiating with interment to follow in Restvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
