Sutherland, Janie Young

Janie Young Sutherland, 91, of Independence, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Independence. She was born in Grayson County, VA, the Bridle Creek Community, to the late Elijah Young and Bessie Bagwell Young. Also predeceased by her husband, June Sutherland and son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Montie Rhudy Sutherland.

Surviving, son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Nell Sutherland of Elk Creek, VA; eight grandchildren, Amy Phillips, Lee Ann Kelly, Derek Sutherland, Heather Boyer, Sarah Stolldory, Nolynn Sutherland, Brent Sutherland and Grant Sutherland; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Loetta Cornett of Blountville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews

Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Rein-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terri Johnson Gregory officiating. Interment to follow in Independence Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. prior to the memorial service.
