Sutherland, Bertha Elisa Vecellio

Bertha Elisa Vecellio Sutherland, 83, of Christiansburg, passed away after a long illness on January 9, 2007.

Mrs. Sutherland was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Elisa Pais Vecellio and brothers, Clio and Iro Vecellio. Mrs. Sutherland attended Mount St. Joseph College, Cincinnati, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband, Kerry Plato Sutherland, of Christiansburg; sons, Kerry Patrick Sutherland, of Greenville, S.C. and Michael Kent Sutherland, of Christiansburg; sister, Vanda Vecellio, of Christiansburg; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Horne Funeral Service, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father John A. Prinelli officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Cemetery.
