Surface Sr., Ronald “Buckeye”

Ronald David “Buckeye” Surface Sr., 77, of Draper, Va., died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, in the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Christiansburg, Va.

Born Jan. 21, 1938, in Pulaski, Va., he was the son of the late Hensel Edward Surface and Jewel Horne Surface. He was also preceded in death by brothers Richard and Robert Surface.

Surviving are wife Eleanor Ann Krajc Surface; daughter and son-in-law Mary and Paul Sayers; sons and daughters-in-law Ronald Jr. “Gordie” and Barbara Surface, and James and Tina Surface; grandchildren Andrew, MaKayla, Emily and Alison; and brother Michael Surface.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Julie Armbrister officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. Visiting will be 6 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends.
