Amy Lisa Sumner, 65 of Fincastle, born May 28, 1957, suddenly passed away November 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Amy worked for Carilion as a nurse at a family practice in Roanoke, Va, from February 2001, to May of 2004, then became Clinical Team Lead at the same office for the next 18 years. She was in the process and looking forward to a well deserved retirement. She cared deeply for her patients and coworkers and was loved and respected by all of us who knew her. In her later years, she discovered she had a knack for crafting, so in her spare time you could find her piddling in her fairy garden or simply cuddled up on the couch with her two kitties, Rue Rue and Charlie Cat. Her children were her pride and joy and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them.

Amy is survived by her son, Bradley Baker, her daughter and husband, Samantha and Ryan Nix, sister, Bonnie Sumner, her grandbabies, Hudson (3), Avery (16 months) and Amy, named in her honor and memory expected in March 2023.

There will be a funeral service held at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, 107 W. Main Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073, on December 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM, followed by a short reception and graveside committal where her remains will be buried alongside her mother, Rose Ellen Sumner and Father, John Wilson Sumner.
