Sullivan, Rita Barnett
Rita Barnett Sullivan, 68, of Blacksburg, died Friday, December 14, 2018. She was born in Christiansburg on February 3, 1950 to the late Melvin and Minnie Barnett. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Sullivan.
Rita was a lifelong gardner and involved in the PFES PTA. A faithful member of Price’s Fork United Methodist Church, she served as a lay leader, treasurer, and superintendent for Sunday School. She was a member of the Price’s Fork Grange and an officer in State Grange and retired from the Montgomery County accounting department. Rita was a dedicated daughter, wife, mom, grandmother, friend, and community volunteer.
Rita is survived by her husband of 50 years, George E. Sullivan; her daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Rick Booth, Jennifer and Brian Brotherton, Elizabeth and Clay Scott; her grandchildren, Hannah Booth, Erin Booth, Daniel Brotherton, Rachel Brotherton, Eli Scott, Nate Booth, and Ethan Scott; a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin (Butch) and Pat Barnett.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Harry Kennon officiating. Private burial will be held in the James Bane Price Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
