Stump, Sylvia Dowdy

Sylvia Dowdy Stump, 64 of Newport, VA departed this life February 26, 2022 in the care of her loving family. Born February 26, 1958 in Giles County, Virginia she was a daughter of the late Claude and Mary Cumbee Dowdy.

Sylvia was a supervisor for Medical Records at Heritage Hall. She enjoyed her life with her family; making all things beautiful whether gardening, shopping, antiquing, or going to flea markets; traveling with family, camping on the New River; or loving her dog.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Dowdy, and Melissa Vanhoozier.

Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are her husband, Donnie Stump of Newport; daughter, Angela Wesley of Christiansburg, VA; grandson, DJ Wesley; a special niece, Summer Ramsey who was considered a daughter, her dog, Daisy; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend special gratitude for the care they received from Good Samaritan Hospice.
