Robert Lee (Poppy) Stump, 75, of Christiansburg, Va., went to his heavenly home to be with our Lord on April 28, 2009. He was born May 8, 1933, to the late Riley and Claudie Stump. He was preceded in death by eight siblings. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Mary Stump; his children and spouses, Daisy and William Craft, Roger and Edith Stump, and Michael and Dorothy Stump; his grandchildren and spouses, Chris Craft, Jennifer and Scott Shaffer, Joseph and Crystal Stump, Anthony and Angela Stump, Matthew and Ruby Stump, Jason and Scarlett Stump, Roger Lee and Kristin Stump, and Michael Stump; great-grandchildren, Abigayle Craft, Kaylee Shaffer, Michael, Katlin, Daniel, Zachary, Brandon, Matthew, Austin, Hunter, and Owen Stump; one brother, Riley Stump; and special family friends, Brandy and Cody Caldwell, Ashley, Brooklyn and Brody Hinkley. Robert served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1995 after 30 years of employment. Poppy was well loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him, as we remember his sense of humor and his guitar playing the “Wildwood Flower.” Poppy was an inspiration to us all and we are thankful for the wonderful years we had to spend with him. Heaven truly has another angel. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009, at North Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmie L. Price officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
