Claudine Stump, 67, of Check, left her earthly home on Wednesday morning, January 30, 2008, to spend eternity with her Lord.

Claudine was, as stated in Proverbs 31:10-31, “…a truly good wife, she is worth more than precious gems…. She is a woman of strength and dignity… Her children stand and bless her; so does her husband. …a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised…. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

Claudine was one of ten children born to Linden and Violet Craighead. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Earl Stump; sisters, Hazel Craighead and Joan Austin; and a brother, Garland Craighead.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Earl David Stump; daughter, Mary Anne Bain and fiance, Mike Hodges; son, David L. Stump and wife, Kim, of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Anthony Bain and special friend, Cody Akers, Brandon Bain and special friend, Eva Littleral, Garland Orange, and Cayden Stump; and a great grandchild, Chloe Bain.

Death leaves heartaches that no one can heal but memories are forever that no one can steal. Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Helen Brown and Gladys Hurst, of Shawsville, Jane Smith, of Blacksburg, Janet Martin and husband, Randal, of Christiansburg; her brothers, Paul Craighead, of Draper, and Curtis Craighead and wife, Jeanne, of Shawsville; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home, with Pastor Dusty Etter officiating. Burial will follow at the Restvale Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Bible Baptist Church, 710 Church Street, Christiansburg, Va., 24073. Gardner Funeral Home is serving the family.
