Stroupe, Robert Vance

Robert Vance Stroupe, 81, of Pulaski, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 in the Pulaski Community Hospital.

He was the youngest son of the late Robert and Lula Hagee Stroupe and was retired from Pulaski Furniture. Vance was born in Wythe County April 2, 1926. During his youth, Vance operated a community store and Inn in Wythe County with his brother. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, where he served in France and Germany, and then in the Active Reserves. He was a member of American Legion Post # 7 of Pulaski. Vance was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Corvin Stroupe, brothers Raymond Stroupe and Cecil Stroupe, sisters, Mozelle Miller and Estelle Jackson. He is survived by his sister, Pauline S. Crigger of Wytheville; special nephew and wife, Robert and Margaret Crigger of Christiansburg; several other nieces, nephews and great-nieces, great-nephews and friends also survive.

Funeral service will be Wednesday 2 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Dr. Janet Richardson and Sherman Dixon, with interment in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time. American Legion Post # 9 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to the Evergreen United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
