Stroupe, Fred Allen
Fred Allen Stroupe, 67, of Max Meadows, entered into eternal peace surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 23, 2011. He was born on July 24, 1944, in Pulaski County and was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bernice Stroupe; his sister, Alta Stroupe Thompson; infant brothers, Bruce and Ernest Stroupe; great-granddaughter, Annabella McNulty; sister-in-law, Nelva Stroupe. He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Stroupe, of Roanoke, Stephanie and Virgil Swindle, of Christiansburg, Karla and Fred Hink, of Purcellville, Laura and Michael Steele, of Pearisburg; sister, Nancy and James Bishop; brothers, Charles R. Stroupe, Donald and Martha Stroupe; brother-in-law, L.D. Thompson, all of Max Meadows; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; good friends, Joe Collins, Doug Woods and J.R. McHone. Fred was an avid baseball fan. He also loved the Cleveland Indians, Washington Redskins and Virginia Tech Hokies; he was a Dale Earnhardt fan, as well. Fred will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor and will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Reverend N.R. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society .
