Lura Stone, 83, longtime resident of Christiansburg, Va., died April 5, 2006. Lura is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Dillard, exactly one year ago.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Don Parker of Blue Ridge. Also surviving are granddaughters, Angela Leonard (Alan) of Blue Ridge, Lara Nichols (Mark) of Boca Raton, Fla.; and five beautiful great-grandchildren.

Lura Dean faithfully served the Lord at St. Paul United Methodist Church for 54 years where she was a gifted quilter and participated actively in Bible studies. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Adventa Hospice staff, especially Diane, for their special care.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7, 2006, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Grooms and Pastor Chuck McHose officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
