Stone, Evelyn Thompson
Mary Evelyn Stone passed peacefully in her home on Monday, February 21, 2022 surrounded by loving family and caregivers at age 77. She was proceeded in death by her parents Daniel and Ila Thompson, her sister Cathy Willey (Joe) and her husband Jerry M Stone. She is survived by her sister Betty Saunders (Steve), brothers Eddie Thompson, and Danny Thompson (Drema), and her daughters Sherry Duncan (Ron), and Sandy Kingrea (Ray), five grandchildren, their spouses and four great grandchildren.
Evelyn was born in White Oak, Raleigh County West Virginia on July 27, 1944. She was a hard working individual, and after moving to the Christiansburg, Virginia area she became a prominent figure in the community. She worked for the FBI, became a branch manager of a local hometown bank and managed multiple rental properties in the area. Evelyn met Jerry, her husband of over 30 years in 1985, and were together until he passed until 2019.
A loving wife and mother, Evelyn devoted long hours to the care of her husband and family. Her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were some of the highlights of the holiday season, bringing the family together each year in the warmth and brightness of her home. The kindness in her heart radiated to those around her, a bright star of warmth that cannot be overstated. She will be sorely missed.
Please join us to celebrate her life at Horne Funeral Home on Thursday, February 24th. Visitation will be at 1pm, followed by funeral services held at 2pm. Evelyn will be laid to rest at the Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, next to her loving husband.

As one of Evelyn’s caregivers, I grew to love her dearly. She was one of the kindest and loving people I’ve had the privilege of knowing. I will miss her greatly. RIP my sweet friend.
