Ruth Hawks Stockner, 81, of Christiansburg, and formerly Dublin, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, in the New River Valley Medical Center. Born March 24, 1928, in Fancy Gap, Va., she was the daughter of the late James Anderson Hawks and Julia Wilson Hawks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Haywood Stockner; three brothers; and two sisters. Surviving are daughter, Julia Mae Stockner, Christiansburg, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Dewey Eugene “Gene” Stockner and Mary Ann Stockner, Dublin; granddaughter, Tracy Linette Stockner Howell, Christiansburg; sisters, Mary Alma Crockett, Dublin, Lorraine Parrish, Rural Hall, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Minister Eddie Callahan officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow Wednesday 11 a.m. February 3, 2010, at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
