Stiles, Loyd Willis (Stilo)

Monday, February 10, 2014 was a special day – Lloyd Willis (Stilo) Stiles of Christiansburg, was reunited with the love of his life, his wife, Bernice Young Stiles in heaven. Stilo was born on August 19, 1921. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hattie Stiles; daughter, Wanda Reynolds; brothers, Jim, Frank, Fred, Don, and Bill; and sisters, Gaynell, Dot, and Daphine.

He is survived by sons, Dale and Judy of Lafayette, GA, Ron and Nancy, Tommy and Nina, all of Christiansburg, and David and Judy of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Mike and Ginger, Brian, Tammy, Carolyn, and Tony; brother, Hank Stiles; sister-in-law, Dorothy Young; two special nieces, Jo and Hilda; special friend, Ann Vaughn; and other family members.

Stilo was a Pipe Shop Foreman at Hercules and worked there for 33 years. He was a member of the Snowville Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. His favorite hobbies were fishing and planting a garden. He always had one of the prettiest gardens in Childress with the held of his special nephew Bobby. Stilo loved sharing his vegetables with family and friends. In later years he was known for his homemade “peanut brittle” that he gave to friends and family at Christmastime.

The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone for their prays and to all the nurses and doctors at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center for taking such good care of our Daddy, Father-in-Law, PaPa and Friend.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 14, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark A. Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
