Robert O’Dell Stevens, 79, strolled into Heaven on Friday, October 20, 2006 from his home in Radford.

He was a member of the Bay Street Baptist Church in Eustis, Fla. and a U. S. Navy veteran, having proudly served his country during WWII. He retired from U. S. Steel at Fairless Hills, Penn. as an overhead crane operator.

He was a kind and gentle man who loved Our Lord Jesus Christ and his family. He and his beloved wife of 50 years, Edna, enjoyed retirement in Florida for many years. He had a wonderful life and enjoyed listening to and playing country music.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Edna A. Stevens of Radford; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott A. and Wendy Stevens of Rancocas, N.J.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Stevens-Martin and John Martin of Radford; a grandson, Carter Stevens; and two sisters, Ruth French and Peggy Kresge, both of Lake Winola, Penn.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Lake County Ostomy, 199 Waterfront Drive, Leesburg, FL 34748, c/o Donna O’Connell or the Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.
