Gladys Orey Stevens, 94 of Narrows went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6th, 2007 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on July 26th, 1912 and was the daughter of the late Will and Alice Josephine Day Orey.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Annis Stevens; a daughter, Josephine Bowles; and a grandson, Stevie Wayne Stevens.

She is survived by a son, James Douglas Stevens and wife Billy Stevens of Millsboro, Delaware; a daughter, Frances Louise Havens and husband Gary Chester Havens of Narrows; five grandchildren, Cheryl Cooper and husband Curtis, Kathy Maybree and husband Mike, Carol Dalton and husband LeRoy, Leslia Heatherington and husband Steven, Elinda Elliott and husband Donald; eight great-grandchildren, Gray Cooper, Melissa Clutchfield and husband Marvin, Jamie Heatherington, Ryan Heatherington, Amanda Brooks and husband Henry, Tyler Dalton, Kimberly Snyder and husband Estel, Sambo and wife Rhonda Bird; nine great-great grandchildren, Ashley Bird, Zachary Bird, Hunter Cumbee, Jacob Cumbee, Dustin Cumbee, Jordan McGuire, Logan McGuire, Josh Brooks, and Abbie Brooks.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9th, 2007 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Dr. Fred Austin officiating. Burial will follow in the Stinson Cemetery in White Gate. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Thursday from 6-8 PM.
