Sterrett, Frances Wade

Frances Wade Sterrett, 92, of Blacksburg died Friday, September 19, 2014 at her home. She was born in Wade’s Mill, Raphine, Va. on January 25, 1922 to the late Walter Hale and Bessie Bell Berry Wade.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Madison Sterrett, and six siblings. She received her teaching degree in 1944 from Madison College. Mrs. Sterrett was a faithful member of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church since 1965. She was very active in the Interfaith Food Pantry and the Children’s Clothing Bank. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Cynthia Sterrett, and Bob and Julie Sterrett, all of Blacksburg; four grandchildren, Scott A. Sterrett, of Richmond, Va., Robert M. Sterrett, of Arlington, Va., Stephanie S. Sterrett, of Roanoke, Va. and Meredith W. Sterrett, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Blair Wade, of Blacksburg formerly of Wade’s Mill, Raphine, Va. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m.Sunday, September 21, 2014in the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
