Rodney Blake Steffey, age 78 of Pulaski, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his residence. He was born on May 5, 1936 in Wythe County, and was the son of the late Georgie Steffey. He was a Member of Thornspring United Methodist Church, a graduate of the Rural Retreat Class of 1954, and was a retired employee of Burlington Mills in Dublin.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his special grandparents, Stephen J. Steffey and Effie Litz Steffey, and a special aunt, Mary McMillen. He is survived by his wife, Claudine Loveda Steffey of Pulaski; a son, Ronald Blake Steffey and his wife, Susan of Dublin; a daughter; Loveda Ann Steffey of Pulaski; a brother, Dan Patton and his wife Sandra of Richmond; two sisters; Joann Copenhaver and her husband, Harlow of Rural Retreat, and Shirley Crockett and her husband Eddie of Rural Retreat; two grandchildren, Steven Steffey and his wife Toni, and Michael Steffey of Dublin, and three great grandchildren, Delainey Steffey of Dublin, Michaela Steffey of Bland County, and Justin Steffey of Bland County. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Sizemore and the Rev. Teressa Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make a memorial contribution in his memory to the Thornspring United Methodist Church.
