Stanley, Nellie Jane

Nellie Jane Stanley, 76, of the Hoges Chapel Community near Pembroke, departed this life Wednesday evening March 14, 2007.

Born in Bland County on August 22, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Virginia Lawson Whittaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Stanley; three brothers, Sidney, David, and Donald Whittaker; and two sisters, Dolly Clemens and Mary Peters.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons and daughters-in-law, Safford and Helen Stanley of Hoges Chapel, Robert “Bobby” and Karen Stanley of Pembroke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Donnie Whittaker of Pearisburg, Nellie Louise and David Rose of Pearisburg; two brothers, James and Clayton Whittaker, both of Pembroke; three sisters, Dorothy Vaught of Eggleston, Lena Rucker of Kimballton, Rosie Corner of Pulaski; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow in Pembroke with burial following at Newport Cemetery in Newport.
