Stafford, Virginia Alma Meadows

Virginia Alma Meadows Stafford, 85, of Staffordsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Carilion NRV Medical Center. She was born on May 2, 1926, in Rock Camp, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Bertha Alma Crotty Meadows.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Herbert Daniel Stafford; infant daughter, Darlene Joyce Stafford; and nine brothers. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John “Tex” and Sharon Wilson, Narrows; two daughters and son-in-law, Doris Altizer, Narrows, Gloria and Freddie Dean Stump Sr., Staffordsville; one sister, Ada Sue Shaver, Lewisburg, W.Va.; four grandsons, Christopher Wilson, Phillip Young and fiance, Victoria Dolan, Freddie Stump Jr. and Joshua Stump; two great- granddaughters, Harley and Olivia Wilson; and a special friend, Max Owen.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, January 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, with the Rev. Charlie Henderson officiating. Burial in the Staffordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 2 p.m., and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
