Stafford, Jesse Damon
Jesse Damon Stafford, 87, of Radford, after a long illness passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013, at his residence. He loved and lived his life to the fullest, but his true passion was farming. Jesse was a member of Belmont Christian Church for 65 years. He was a longtime member of the Ruritan Club and Belmont Community Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Thompson Stafford; and his parents, Robert and Bertha Stafford. He is survived by four daughters, Judy Snider, Diane Hodges and husband, Don, Joann Craig and husband, Mark, and Robertine Farley, all of Radford; grandchildren, Tabatha Snider and Nathan Shapiro, Brandy Browning and Bryan Browning, Jonna McDaniel, Alex Craig and Katie Hensley, Katie Craig, Brent Farley and Kerah Farley, Ashleigh White and Landon White; great-grandchildren, Addi Browning, Drew Browning, McKayla McDaniel, Brandon McDaniel, Damon Farley, Stafford Grey Shapiro; sisters, Arbutis McCoy, of Iowa, Mida Stanger, of Christiansburg, Joyce Proco, of Christiansburg; special caregiver, Frances Thornhill; many nieces and nephews. Jesse is also survived by what he considered his honorary family. Those are a brother, Buddy Hudson and wife, Gladys; children, George Hudson and wife, Julie, Butch Hudson and wife, Rhonda; grandchildren, Megan Hudson, BJ Hudson, Kadie Hudson, Isaac Hudson and Ryan Hudson. The family will receive friends from 5 til 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at Belmont Christian Church in Christiansburg with the Rev. Beaver Terry officiating.
