Cynthia (Sandy) Sporakowski, 96, of Blacksburg, Va. passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. She was born in South Milwaukee, Wis. on December 25, 1910 to the late Marcella and Boleslaw Milewski.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene; sister, Cecelia; her son, Richard; husband, Michael V.; and Abitta Seymour, her favorite, retired racing Greyhound.

She is survived by her son, Michael J. and his wife, Judith; granddaughters, Laura of Eggleston and Karen of Blacksburg; nephews, John Sporakowski of Ocala, Fla. and Stevens Point, Wis., Alan Milewski of Holmdel, N.J.; and niece, Diane Burritt of Birmingham, Ala.

Sandy, after an early career in data processing with Bucyrus-Erie, Company in South Milwaukee, Wis., was a homemaker and avid pinochle player, bingo enthusiast, and golfer. In retirement, she lived with her husband Mike in Hot Springs Village, Ark. before moving to the Blacksburg-Christiansburg area in 1980.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at McCoy Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007 with a memorial service there at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Russell officiating.

A Celebration reception of Sandy’s life will be held at the Sporakowski’s home, 702 Patrick Henry Drive, after the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Milwaukee, Wis. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County, P.O. Box 287, Blacksburg, Va. 24063.
