Spicer, Sr., Buddie Raymond
First Sergeant (Ret). Buddie Raymond Spicer, Sr., of Peterstown, West Virginia, and Narrows, Virginia, died peacefully at his home after a two-year struggle with cancer on November 4th, 2014. Born in Giles County on September 1st, 1935, he was the son of the late James William Spicer and Ida Mae Keffer Spicer.
Joining the Army in 1952 while stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany, he met his late wife of 40 years, Sigrid Rita Waldin Spicer. They bore four children during this lifelong marriage: a daughter, Susan Dodson of Smithfield, North Carolina; a son, Buddie Spicer, Jr. of Front Royal, Virginia; a late son, PFC Carl Spicer of Buddigen, Germany; and a daughter, Peggy Simpson of Cumming, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, wife, and son, he was preceded in death by three siblings: a sister, Betty (Jean) Dalton; a brother, Richard (Dickey) Spicer; and a brother, Daniel (Danny, Doc) Spicer, all of Narrows, Virginia.
Survivors include a brother, Jackie Spicer and wife Connie; a sister, Linda Hughes and husband Charles, all of Narrows; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to thank Vivian (Gail) Snider and sons for the past five years of love, dedication, happiness and care she exhibited before, during and after his battle.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Kathy Higgs of New Village Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Posts #68 of Narrows, #311 of Pembroke, and #145 of Peterstown. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Friday from 6 to 8 PM.
