Spencer, William Joseph

William “Joseph” Spencer, age 37, of Ballard, WV, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Born August 18, 1981, in East Ridge, TN, he was the son of William L. and Jo Ann Daugherty Spencer of Ballard, WV.

Joseph was member of the Ballard Baptist Church and worked as a flooring technician. He was a 1999 graduate of Ballard Christian School and attended Bluefield State College. He loved the river, fishing, and golf. He was a magnet to children – children loved him.

Joseph was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James Howard Spencer, Sr. and wife Lorraine; maternal grandparents, Jack D. Daugherty and wife Esta M.; three uncles, John R. Spencer, Larry A. Daugherty, and John D. Daugherty; and mother-in-law, Betty Evans. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Peggy Cahoon Spencer; two step-sons, Johnathon and Bryan Cahoon; four brothers, Jonathan David Spencer and wife Vanessa of Chattanooga, TN, Matthew Jared Spencer and wife Dana of Pembroke, VA, Justin Mark Spencer and wife Courtnie of Burlington, KY, and Jesse Howard Spencer and wife Jessie of Pearisburg, VA; two step grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the Ballard Baptist Church in Ballard, WV, with Evangelist Tim Spencer and Preacher Dave Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Spencer Family Cemetery in Ballard, WV, with Jonathan David Spencer, Matthew Jared Spencer, Justin Mark Spencer, Jesse Howard Spencer, David C. Spencer, Jr., and Thomas H. Spencer serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ballard Christian School (1395 Adair Ridge Rd., Ballard, WV 24918).
