Spencer, Lena Thompson
Lena Juliette Thompson Spencer, age 99, of Pulaski, and living in Boones Mill, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at her son’s home. She was born on November 19, 1914 and was the daughter of the late Mamie Falk Riner Thompson and William Thomas Thompson. Mrs. Spencer was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Pulaski.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Kenneth Elkin Spencer; sisters, Willie Mae Martin Simpkins, and Sally Miles Rowe; a brother, Riner Thompson; and a daughter, Karen Lynnette S. Cheely. She is survived by a son, Kenneth Byron Spencer and his wife Sharon of Boones Mill; a son-in-law, Conway Cheely of Camden, S.C.; grandchildren, Lynnette Cheely Conto and her husband Kevin of Camden, S.C., Patrick Cheely and his wife Buttons (Beatrice) of High Point, N.C., and Mary Anne Spencer Greer and her husband Matt of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Sydney Conto, and Brody Greer.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time.
