T. Ward Spangler, Jr., 75, of Floyd, Va., passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007. Ward was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Sylvia Epperly Spangler, and was the son of the late Ward T. and Myrtle H. Spangler. Ward enjoyed taking walks, traveling and detailing cars. He was a man of integrity, kindness and gentle strength who will be greatly missed by his loving family.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Cappy Spangler and Kenneth and Donna Spangler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Ron Shaffer and Rosemary and Michael Carr; his grandchildren, Daniel Cannaday, Hunter Cannaday, Christy Carr, Brittany Carr, Dakota Spangler, Austin Spangler, Sierra Spangler and Sabrina Spangler; his stepgrandchildren, Ben Johnson, Caleb Johnson and Conner Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Thomas and Dr. Dave Holladay officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday after 1 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Medical Charities of Floyd, 100 East Main Street, Room 108, Floyd, Va. 24091.
