Spangler, Opal Britt

Opal Britt Spangler, 90, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008. She was predeceased by two husbands, Lacy R. Britt and G.D. Spangler; and one son, William Britt.

Opal was a faithful member of Floyd Baptist Church where she served in many areas of the church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was an excellent painter.

Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Judy Britt, of Floyd, Va., and David Britt, of Houston, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Phillip Stewart, of Roanoke, Va., and Elaine and Gary Gray, of Cana, Va.; daughter-in-law, Joyce Britt, of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Britt, of Dublin, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dave Holladay officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call at Gardner Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, after 5 p.m. where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m.
