Ella Delena Spangler, 89, of the Kire Community in Giles County, died Tuesday December 5, 2006 in Catawba Hospital.

Born on Big Stony Creek in Giles County on April 5, 1917 she was a daughter of the late Leonard J. and Mary Blanche Martin Lafon. She had worked for many years in the spinning department at the Celanese Celco Plant at Narrows and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Spangler; a son-in-law, James Lambert; and three sisters, Christine Lafon, Letha Peck, and Geneva Lafon. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Barbara Lafon Lambert of Newport, Va.; a grandson and his wife, James Aaron and Crystal Jones Lambert of Christiansburg; a great-granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Lambert; a brother, Eugene Lafon and his wife Frances of Newport; a sister, Audrey Woods and her husband Roy of Christiansburg, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Bishop Cantrall Martin presiding. Burial will follow in Kire Community Cemetery in the Kire Community.
