Dalton, Plenny Everett

Plenny Everett Dalton, 94, of Pulaski, died early Saturday morning March 28, 2009, in the Highland Ridge Rehab. Center, Dublin. He was born in Patrick County, Virginia on November 2, 1914 and was the son of the late James Dalton and Laura Rorrer Dalton.

He was also preceded in death by his wives, Nellie Virginia Jones Dalton and Grace Rakes Dalton, son, Wallace Dalton, brothers, Russell, Woody, Este’, Earl and Hardin Dalton and sisters, Gertrude Turner, Vera Webb, Lillian Murphy and Mary Sutphin.

Surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Joan Hawkins, Dublin, Va., Joyce and Ken Walker, Cortez, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell and Brenda Dalton, Knoxville, Tenn., Kelly and Gay Dalton, Dublin, Va.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; stepsons and spouses, Clyde and Phobe Rakes, Kernersville, N.C., John Henry and Betty Rakes, Sandy Level, Va., Garry and Cheryl Rakes, Front Royal, Va., Velva Rakes, Stuart, Va.; stepdaughters and spouses, Lucille and Lester Craig, Stuart, Va., Betty and Elmer Dalton, Gibsonville, N.C., Virginia and Edward Gunter, Stuart, Va.; sisters-in-law, Mandy Dalton, Draper, Va., Margaret Dalton, Pulaski, Va.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday from Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Monday evening at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
