Martin, Cecil Ambrose

Cecil Ambrose Martin, 85, of Riner, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at his home with family and friends. He was born on December 23, 1923. He was a man who loved the Lord, his family and church. He was a 60 year member of Riverview Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ellett Valley. He also loved playing the mandolin, attending gospel singings, and visiting the sick in nursing homes and hospitals was his special calling. He retired from Imperial Reading after 22 years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Norvel and Bertha Martin; granddaughter, Precilla Keith; and nephew, Richard D. Yopp.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 60 years, Addie Gruver Martin, of Riner, Va.; daughter, Charlotte Ann Martin, of Riner, Va.; two granddaughters, Crystal Michelle Keith, of Salem, Va., and Stacy Ann Tuck and Duane, of Pulaski, Va.; two greatgrandsons, Travis A. Williams, of Blacksburg, Va., and Isaiah Tuck, of Pulaski, Va.; a brother, Eugene Martin, of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Hazel M. Cornett and Ed, of Elk Creek, Va.; sisters-in-law, Pat Gruver, of Macon, Ga., and Clara Orr, of Albuquerque, N.M.; several nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Calvin Gruver.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009, at the Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Horne Funeral Home with Ellis Meredith and Jimmy Walker officiating. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg, Va.
