Kenneth John Nelson, 39, of Washington, D.C., son of Betty Walters Nelson was born March 24, 1970, in Bethesda, Md. and departed this life on June 2, 2009, at Georgetown University Hospital, in Washington, D.C., after an acute illness. Ken was raised as a child in Shawsville, Va. and developed a love for music at an early age. Upon moving to Washington, D.C. in 1997, he worked for MedStar Health and supplemented his love for music by performing as a DJ in a local night club. He was the lifetime partner of Randy Lee Kellar who along with his mother, Betty, and sister, Dawn, watched over him as he passed. Ken leaves behind his lifetime partner, Randy Lee Kellar; his mother, Betty Walters Nelson; his sister, Dawn Marie Nelson-Jenkins; one nephew, Robert ‘Max’ Jenkins II; two nieces, Emily Walters Jenkins and Abigail Vaughn Jenkins; his beloved aunt, Martha Walters, and uncle Lloyd ‘Pa Pa J’ Main; his aunts, Francis Walters McLain and Iris Walters Grimsley and John Grimsley; cousins, Donald Lee Main, Judy Main Weatherington, David ‘Curtis’ Main and Deborah Sue Main and their families; along with many cousins and relatives. He also leaves Randy’s mother, Jean; his daughter and son-inlaw, Mary and David Clarisse; Randy’s two sisters and three brothers; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, June 5, 2009, from 11:30 a.m. until noon. Funeral services will be noon Friday, June 5, 2009, in the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by Father David D. Rose.
