Smith, Jesse Alan

Jesse Alan Smith, 46, of Richmond, Va., and formerly of Christiansburg, Va., died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at MCV Hospital in Richmond, Va. Jesse was born December 31, 1962, in Bethesda, Md., the son of the late Beulah Marie and Randolph Lee Smith.

He is also preceded in death by a brother, Alfred W. Smith; a sister, Carolyn M. Smith; and a guardian father, Bert “June” Dowdy. Jesse was married to Pamela Smith, of Richmond, Va.

Surviving with his wife of 17 years is one daughter, Jennifer M. Smith; a stepson, Nick Gram, both of Richmond, Va.; and two sisters, Mary Lee Smith and husband, Ralph, of Catawba, Va., and Doris Anne Brennen and husband, Greg, of Boyce, Va.; one brother, Franklin R. Smith and wife, Debbie, of Toms Brook, Va. He is also survived by a guardian mother, Audrey Tina “Tiny” Dowdy, of Christiansburg, Va.; a guardian brother, Bert; sisters, Shirley, Linda, Audrey and Becky; and many nieces and nephews.

Jesse was a member of the United States Army and an avid fan of all Virginia Tech Sports. Jesse had a love for life and fishing and family. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on his favorite Christian holiday “EASTER!”

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Park United Methodist Church, 306 Park St., Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
