Rogers, Georgia Nelson
Georgia Nelson Rogers, 87, of Dublin, Va., went home to be with Jesus on Thursday morning, April 9, 2009. She was born April 21, 1921, in Erwin, Tenn., and was the daughter of the late Jeanette McCurry Nelson and Clyde Franklin Nelson. She was a long-time member of the Faith Bible Church in Pulaski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Rogers; a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Altizer; and a son-in-law, B.J. Altizer. She is survived by two daughters, Saundra Gray and her husband, Wayne, of Pulaski, and Sharon Altizer, of Newbern. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Tammy Hurst and her husband, Tolley, of Dublin, Perry Gray and his wife, Vickie, of Pulaski, and Stacey Gray, of Pulaski; five greatgrandchildren, Robbie Gray and his wife, Amanda, Preston Gray, Casey Dowdy and her husband, Buck, Justin Petty, and Sarah Gray; one special niece, Jeanie Wilson, of Dallas, Texas; and two sisters, Betty Rutherford, and Verna Montgomery and her husband, Carl, all of Arizona. Funeral services will be held noon on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons with the Rev. Jim Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until noon service time. The family will also be receiving friends at the home of Tammy and Tolley Hurst, 208 Third Street, in Dublin.
