Albert, James D.

James D. Albert, 66, formerly of Pembroke, and now of 3245 Jacks Mill Road, Chambersburg, Pa., died Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Jim was born November 1, 1941, at Mountain View, Va. He was a son of the late John Jacob and Lucille Virginia (Lafon) Albert. He was the owner of Albert’s Rebar Placing in Chambersburg, Pa., since 1979. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW in various places, the Red Man Lodge in Williamsport, Md., and the Giles Country Club in Pearisburg. He also served in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his former wife and special friend, Pamela Marshall Albert, of Pembroke; sons, Brian D. Albert, of Birmingham, Ala., and Richard I. Griggs, of James River, Va.; stepson, Christopher T. Bales, of Pearisburg; stepdaughter, Ashley M. Bales, of Pembroke;, granddaughter, Kiersten Albert, of Waynesboro, Pa.; brother, John Bernard Albert, of Bowling Green, Va.; sisters, Shiurley Louise Atkins, of Pearisburg, Bonnie Joe Grover, of Hagerstown, Md., and Betty Lou Tarman, of State College, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Carlys (Fix) Slater on February 27, 2004.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Sipes Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, Pa. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of arrangements.
