French, Phyllis Jean

Phyllis Jean French, 71, of Roanoke and formerly of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, January 25, 2007 at Berkshire Health Care Center in Vinton, Va. after a long illness.

Born in Virginia on March 18, 1935 she was a daughter of the late Thomas Minor and Lena Bell Nidy Dunbar. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Richard French; her parents; brothers, Marven and Paul Dunbar; and sisters, Rita West and Alice Jones; and nieces, Hattie and Katie Dunbar.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Carla J. and husband Mark Comer of Pearisburg and Sally Faye Croy of Waynesboro; brother, Gilbert and wife Mary Dunbar of Buena Vista; sisters, Mildred Dunbar and Grace Crigger of Roanoke; a special granddaughter, Brittany N. Comer; and five other beloved grandchildren and her special companion, her dog Snowball.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Angels Rest Memory Gardens at Narrows.
