Sowers Sr., Frankie Willard
Our beloved husband, father, Papa and friend Frankie Willard Sowers, Sr., 73, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at his home in Pulaski County. He was a U. S. Army veteran and retired from Kroger Corp where he was produce manager for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank E. and Inez Cox Sowers, and sister, Linda Bennett. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Joann Criner Sowers; sons and daughters-in-law, Frankie, Jr., and Desi Sowers, and Neal Davis and Renee Sowers, all of Radford; the joy of his life his grandchildren, Matthew (Partner), Miranda (Princess), and Benjamin (Big Ben); brother, Joseph D. Sowers of Christiansburg; sister, Dixie Harmon of Dublin; brother-in-law, Dennis Criner of Phenix City, AL; sisters-in-law and their spouses, Helen and Carl Bain of Fort Chiswell, Margie and Tommy Mannon of Radford, Rachel and Hugh Simpkins of Radford, and Carol and David Whitlock of Hiwassee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone for all of the acts of love shown to them. Sincere appreciation to the Duke Medical Center, The Caring House, and the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor Jerry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Showalter Cemetery in Floyd County where members of V. F. W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday evening at the church.
