Sowers, Lorraine M.

Lorraine M. Sowers, 81, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was born January 20, 1931, in Pilot, the daughter of the late George Willie and Vivian Martin. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marianne Gearheart; her husband of 52 years, Ferd Archie Sowers; and many other family and friends. She is survived by her granddaughter, Heather Self and husband, Denny; grandson, Jeremiah Gearheart and wife, Nikki; four great-grandchildren “her babies”, Mason, Blair and Harper Self, and Grayson Gearheart. The family wishes to thank the wonderful neighbors that cared so much: Steve and Cecelia Perkins and Jean Snider; the fabulous Hospice Nurses Lindsey, Lisa, and Erin; and special friends Kathy Rodgers, Susan Board, Clover Ratcliff, Mary Propst, Miriam Hilton, and many others. A special thank you for all of the cards, calls, visits, and most of all the prayers and support during this time. The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 , 2012. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Christiansburg Church of Brethren with the Rev. Don Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
