Sowers, James Tazewell

James Tazewell Sowers, 100, of Christiansburg, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Slusher Sowers.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn S. Stewart, Hendersonville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Christopher Stewart, of Goodyear, Ariz., Timothy Stewart, of Apopka, Fla.; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ilene Boucher, of Belleville, Ill., Frances Profitt, of Floyd; brother, Edmond Sowers, of Missouri; special friend, Eva Sutphin, of Christiansburg.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at The Christiansburg Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Donald Peters and the Rev. Wallace Yopp officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 until 8 p.m. at The Christiansburg Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
