sowers_clinton_vClinton V. Sowers, 88, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received a purple heart and a bronze star for his service. Clinton was co-owner of Sowers & Austin for over 50 years.

He is preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Lee Sowers; four brothers, Tom, Lindsey, Stanley and Wayne Sowers; and sister, Marie Austin. He is survived by his wife, Ilene Reed Sowers; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cookie Sowers; grandson, J.R. Sowers; sister, Glada Hale; sisters-in-law, Elva and Vera Sowers; special friend, Betty Wright; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd with the Rev. Hebron Quesenberry and the Rev. Lane Board officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. Military Rites will be handled by Floyd VFW Post #7854 and American Legion #127.
