Barbara Williams Southern, age 63, of Newport died Monday, May 5, 2014. She was born in Radford, Va. on April 24, 1951 to the late Samuel Kenneth and Geraldine Meredith Williams. She attended Sherry Memorial Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, P. Dale Southern, of Newport, daughters and sons-in-law, Robin S. and Eddie Hypes, of Newport, Debra and Rod Ramos, Roanoke, son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Dale Southern and Denise, of Pearisburg, sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Lois Williams, of Newport, Helen Renee Whitt and husband, Dewey, Glen Lyn, Trina Gail Williams, Hillsville, grandchildren, Brandon Phillip Harvey, Briana Inez Ramos, Micah David Ramos. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Matthew Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Newport Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
