Ward Malcolm Songer, 73, of Country Road, Pembroke, departed this life Wednesday, morning January 9, 2008 at his home in the Maybrook Community.

Born in Giles County on November 7, 1934, he was a son of the late Edwin L. and Mattie Sue Epling Songer. He was a self-employed tile setter by trade and was a member of Calvary Christian Church in Pembroke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Arnett Songer.

He leaves to cherish his memory two stepdaughters, Bonnie Taylor, of Pembroke, and Joyce Bingel, of Mechanicsville; four brothers, Jack D. Songer, of Blacksburg, Daniel L. Songer, of Colonial Heights, Edward L. Songer and Michael D. Songer, both of Christiansburg; two sisters, Lois S. Breeding, of Pembroke, and Virginia S. Davis, of Salem.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008, in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor David Kessinger and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
